Weather

The C&TS is located in the high country of the southern range of the San Juan mountains. Elevation ranges from 7,863 to 10,015 feet.

The weather can vary dramatically over the length of the line and throughout the day. The high country can also be windy and subject to thunderstorms, hail and snow. Late summer is monsoon season, bringing the greatest amount of precipitation during the year. Dress in layers and prepare accordingly.
