The Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad is known for its extensive collection of rolling stock which can be viewed at both our Chama, NM and our Antonito, Colorado depots.  Walking tour brochures are available at our depots.

 

Locomotives currently running on the line include: Locomotives 484, 487 and 488 and 489.

The Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad operates comfortable coaches with windows that open. Reserved seats are available and you are welcome to enjoy the view from our open observation car. Snacks, film supplies, souvenirs, and restrooms are available on board. Parlor car guests ride in a carpeted and paneled coach featuring open seating. The train is accessible with a wheelchair lift. Accessibility arrangements should be made in advance.

Coming to the C&T line for the 2008 Season 

OB Pile Driver                                   May 6-23, 2008  (See detailed description below)

Galloping Goose                               June 28 -July 7, 2008 (See description below)

D&RGW Engine #315                        June 16-July 9, 2008 (See description below) 

The OB Pile Driver is on the following schedule:

May 6:  Loading the platform and base car on separate semi lowboy trailers

May 7:  Rigging necessary on both loads

May 8:  The OB will leave the Colorado Springs work site after rush hour and make it way to its final destination in Antonito on its journey along I-25.  The OB will overnight in Alamosa.

May 9:  Departing Alamosa for Antonito, the OB will be met by a crane for off loading at 10AM in the C&TS Antonito Yard.  During the off-load process the platform will be matched to the base car making it once again a complete piece of equipment.

May 12-16 (A) and May 19-23 (B):  Friends Work sessions will take place and be dedicated to getting the OB fully operational.  During these work sessions the public is encouraged to come by the yard and see the OB. The Friends OB crew will be glad to explain the reconstruction process.
